George Kincannon, hales from Chula Vista, California, a small city south of San Diego. He is the son of Raymond E. Kincannon who was a 22 year Navy veteran who served in WW II and the Korean conflict.
Mr. Kincannon joined the US Army on September 15, 1967 and retired from active duty on July 31, 1990 at the rank of First Sergeant (1SG). As a Signals Intelligence and Electronic Warfare Specialist, 1SG Kincannon served assigned multiple duties at Fort Devens Intelligence Training Center along with two tours in Sinop Turkey, Thailand, Okinawa and Germany.
After retirering from the Army, Mr. Kincannon worked as a Security Manager 1st Security, Inc. in Boston before he secured a position with the Massachusetts Division of Employment and Training (DET) as a Disabled Veterans Outreach Person (DVOP) in the Fitchburg/Leominster Career Center. During his eight year tenure with DET, Mr. Kincannon provided job development services for local veterans and was also appointed as the lead Transition Assistance Program (TAP) facilitator for military personnel separating from active duty at Fort Devens and Hanscom AFB. He also served as a part time Veterans Agent for the town of Ashby, assisting local veterans in receiving State and VA benefits.
In July 1999, Mr. Kincannon was appointed as an Assistant State Director for the U.S. Department of Labor’s Veterans Employment and Training Service (VETS) in Boston, where he assisted veterans in securing their rights to seek re-employment with their former civilian employer under the Uniformed Services Re-employment Rights Act (USERRA).
Mr. Kincannon retired from the US Department of Labor in February 2014 and now serves as the Sergeant at Arms for the American Legion, Unit 10 in Fitchburg and Mr. Kincannon currently serves as the VSO for Ashburnham, Hubbardston and Westminster.
