Message from the Town Administrator:

With the fall season in full swing, we are coming to the end of our outdoor maintenance programs and are getting ready for the winter. Hastings Road has been completely redone and resurfaced and our water line replacement project is about 90% complete. The replacement of these lines will eliminate most of our water line breaks and we have already seen a reduction in “loss water” due to water breaks by almost 15%. The roads will be patched for the winter (I know how bad they are) which will allow for any settling and then in the late spring, Williams Rd., Holden St., South Maple Ave., and a portion of Westminster Rd. will be totally resurfaced. Prior to the end of this year’s paving season we will look to overlay the rest of Lake Rd. to Young Rd. This has been made possible due to monies that were voted at the Annual Town Meeting, to supplement our Chapter 90 monies, and the great work by our DPW. Over the past 5 years we have made a commitment to improve the condition of our roadways and we are starting to see the results, but more is needed. At the Special Town Meeting on October 28th we will again be reaching out to you for support to add monies (from free cash) to our roads program, to keep our Roadway Improvement Program moving.
