“Spring is in the Air”
Now that spring is in the air we can all start to put things back together from this past winter’s blight. Although the DPW will be fighting the pothole battle until the frost gets out of the ground in early May good things will start to happen.
I ride in every day on Williams Road so I know the condition of the road and as they patch one hole another one shows up so driving defensively has a whole new meaning. The good news is that even before May we are going to try to get the paving company in to start to grind the road in preparation for the restoration. Paving of Williams and the other roads associated with the Water Line Replacement Project will begin as soon as possible in the month of May and I want to thank you for your patience.
I also want to let you know that my proposed budget for FY16 is now available on the website where you can get my executive summary for FY16, overview of our expenses and revenues (which decreased by 0.65% from FY 15), and a detailed line item level of expenses that will be proposed at the Annual Town Meeting on May 5th at Oakmont Regional High School.
With the Governor’s budget coming out we were hoping not to lose any more ground and we did pretty good. On the town side we actually received 3.6% increase in additional state funding of $25,470 and the school received an additional $452,126 in net school spending. So this is much better than certainly I would have expected. Since we are still months away there may be some changes as we get more information on the House and Senate budgets.
As always, if you have any questions please contact me, my door is always open!
Doug Briggs, Town Administrator
