Henry David Thoreau's "Civil Disobedience," as portrayed by Dr. Jay DiPrima

American author Henry David Thoreau will read his essay, “Civil Disobedience,” courtesy of Gloucester actor and teacher Jay DiPrima, on Wednesday, March 21, from 6-7:30 p.m., at the Stevens Memorial Library, 20 Memorial Drive, Ashburnham. Dr. DiPrima will recreate the lecture as it was first heard by Massachusetts audiences in the 1840s. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A discussion. For teens through adults; no registration is required. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Ashburnham Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. Admission is free.
